Creating a Rethink App for Mobile Devices

Learn how to set up a new Rethink app that works perfectly on mobile devices. This guide will walk you through each step, making it easy to ensure your app is mobile-friendly for users on the go.

Step 1: Access the App Manager

  1. Log in to Rethink.

  2. Go to Setup, then search for and select App Manager.

  3. Duplicate your browser tab by right-clicking on the tab and selecting "Duplicate" so that you end up with two App Manager browser tabs. This will be helpful later on.

Step 2: Open the Existing Rethink App

  1. In one of your browser tabs, in the App Manager, locate the Rethink app with the Developer Name "REthink_CRE_Lightning_New". Click Edit to open the app.

  2. Click on Navigation Items. Leave this tab open and use it as a guide when adding the navigation items to your new app in Step 6.

Step 3: Create a New Lightning App

  1. Navigate to your other browser tab, and in the App Manager, click the New Lightning App button.

  2. Fill out the following fields in the App Details & Branding section:

    • App Name: Enter a name for your app.

    • Developer Name: This is automatically populated based on the app name.

    • Description: Optionally, provide a description for your app.

    • Primary Color: Optionally, choose a color for the app branding.

    • App Logo: Optionally, upload a logo for the app if desired.

  3. Click Next.

Step 4: Configure App Options

  1. In the App Options section, select the following:

    • Navigation Style: Choose Standard Navigation

    • App Form Factors: Ensure that Phone is selected to enable mobile form factor support.

  2. Click Next.

Step 5: Add Utility Bar Items (Not Applicable)

  1. Skip this option by just clicking Next.

Step 6: Set Up Navigation Items

  1. In the Navigation Items section, choose the items you want to include in the app. Refer to the list of existing navigation items in your other browser tab from Step 2, and use this as a guide when adding navigation items to your new app.

  2. Use the Add button to move selected items to the Selected Items column.

  3. Arrange the items in the desired order using the Up and Down arrows.

  4. Click Next.

Step 7: Assign the App to User Profiles

  1. In the User Profiles section, select the profiles that should have access to the app. We recommend granting access to all profiles.

  2. Use the Add button to move selected profiles to the Selected Profiles column.

  3. Click Save & Finish.

Step 8: Log in to Mobile App and Open the New App

  1. Log in to the Salesforce mobile app.

  2. Click on the Menu button in the lower right corner, then select App Launcher at the top.

  3. Locate and select the new mobile app.
