Action Plan Templates: New Lightning Experience (UI Refresh)

Action Plan Templates have been upgraded to a fully native Lightning experience.

This update modernizes the interface, improves usability, and aligns Action Plans with standard Salesforce patterns—making them easier to configure, understand, and manage.

And yes—they look a lot better too.

What’s Changed

Action Plan Templates now behave like standard Salesforce records.

  • Built using Lightning UI, supports Dynamic Forms

  • Consistent with the rest of the Rethink experience

  • Replaces the previous Visualforce-based layout

  • Improved spacing and alignment

  • Natural language summary around the automation piece

  • Ability to clone templates and tasks using the native Clone button

What It Looks Like in Practice

The experience is now more dynamic and aligned with standard Salesforce pages, making setup faster and more intuitive:

How to Enable the New Experience

There are four recommended page layout updates to enable the new experience. These steps must be completed by your System Admin.

While updating layouts, consider:

  • Removing unused tabs (like Related)

  • Expanding the main details section for full-width visibility

  • Using Dynamic Actions to simplify the button layout

  • Updating Compact Layouts to surface key fields (like Subject)

Edit Action Plan Template Page Layout

  • Navigate to: App Launcher → Action Plan Templates

  • Open a template → click Setup → Edit Page

  • Add a Dynamic Related List – Single component

  • Select Action Plan Tasks and include fields like:

    • Subject

    • Assigned To

    • Days After

    • Dependency

  • Open a task from within a template → click Setup → Edit Page

  • Adjust layout for better visibility

  • Add/remove fields as needed

  • Open a record with an Action Plan applied

  • Click into the Action Plan → Setup → Edit Page

  • Add a Dynamic Related List – Single for Action Plan Tasks

  • Include key fields (Subject, Assigned To, Days After, Dependency)

  • Open a task from an applied Action Plan

  • Click Setup → Edit Page

  • Adjust layout for clarity and usability
