The Convert feature lets you turn an inquiry or requirement into a company, contact, and deal with just a few clicks — no need to re-enter the same info. It’s a great way to move a potential client or lead into your pipeline efficiently.
For example:
A property owner you’ve been nurturing who’s now ready to sell can be converted into a full contact and added to your pipeline as a new deal.
A listing inquiry from a buyer or tenant can be converted into a full contact and linked to an existing Seller Rep or Landlord Rep deal as the lead progresses toward a potential transaction.
What Happens During Conversion?
You’ll go through a short 3-step process:
Link or create a company
Link or create a contact
Link or create a deal (optional)
At each step, Rethink fills in information from the original inquiry to save you time.
How to Convert an Inquiry
Here are written instructions, but feel free to skip ahead to the video below!
Open an Inquiry or Requirement record
Click the Convert button (top-right)
Choose an existing Company, or create a new one, then click Next
Choose an existing Contact, or create a new one, then click Next
If you select an existing contact, their company will be updated to match the company you selected in Step 1
If you create a new contact, the following fields will carry over:

Company Name | Company Name = the company selected or created in the previous step |

5. Choose an existing Deal, create a new one, or skip this step, then click Convert
If you link to an existing deal, Rethink will update its contact and company fields based on the deal type.
If you create a new deal, the following fields will carry over:
Inquiry field | Deal field |
Property | Deal Name = “deal type - property”
If property is empty, deal name defaults to “deal type - record ID”.

For Admins: How to Enable the “Convert” Functionality
To enable the Convert feature on Inquiries/Requirements:
Go to Setup > Object Manager
Find and click on Inquiry/Requirement
Select Page Layouts
Choose the layout you want to edit
In the Mobile and Lightning Experience Actions area, find the “Convert” button, then drag it onto the Salesforce Mobile and Lightning Experience Actions section where the other buttons are.
Verify that all the fields circled below are on the layout as well. If they aren't, go to the Fields area and drag and drop them onto the layout.
Click Save
Coming Summer 2025
The original inquiry will be automatically linked to the contact and deal for better tracking.
The inquiry’s status will update to converted once it’s been successfully turned into a contact and/or deal.
The “Choose Existing XXXX” lookup fields will autofill if the inquiry is already linked to an existing company, contact, or deal.
